Health benefits of exercise

Most people begin their #fitness journey with the goal of gaining or losing weight. In other words, they set aesthetic goals. They wish to achieve a certain “look”.

While aesthetic goals are great, #exercise has a host of other benefits and I’d like to point out a few in this short article. These benefits may far outweigh the aesthetic aspect of exercise, as they directly affect your body’s ability to function on a day to day basis.

1. Improved energy levels

An abundance of energy in the body is essential. Your body not only uses energy when you carry out physical activities, but for all metabolic process that need to occur within the body to sustain life.

2. Improved blood circulation

Exercise promotes good circulation by strengthening the muscles in your heart, lowering your resting heart rate, and preventing the buildup of plaque in your arteries (atherosclerosis).

3. Improved mood

Life is better when you feel good. #Exercise helps your body release endorphins, those feel good hormones that promote a sense of happiness and well-being. Symptoms of depression and anxiety have been observed to reduce as a result of improved mood. More reason to engage in exercise activity? Absolutely!

4. Improved sleep

While you sleep your body actually gives you the perfect makeover. Sleep is a critical component of your body’s operating system. You sleep to give your body rest but it doesn’t completely switch off. It amplifies internal processes such as tissue repair, hormone release (for specific hormones), healing etc. to give you the perfect makeover while you sleep.
